999 - How does the human body regulate its temperature?

The human body is like a thermostat. It keeps its temperature at around 37°C (98.6°F). Here's how it regulates its temperature:

  1. Sweating: When it's hot, the body sweats. The sweat evaporates and cools the body down.
  2. Shivering: When it's cold, the body shivers. Shivering makes muscles move and produce heat.
  3. Blood vessels: Blood vessels in the skin can open or close to control heat loss. When it's cold, they close, and when it's hot, they open.
  4. Hypothalamus: The hypothalamus is like the body's temperature controller. It checks the temperature and sends signals to the body to warm up or cool down.

The body works hard to keep its temperature just right, so we can stay healthy and feel comfortable.
