995 - How does the circulatory system work?

Imagine your body as a big city and your circulatory system as a road network that delivers food and oxygen to all the houses (your cells).

Here's how it works:

  1. Heart: The heart is like the city's main bus station. It pumps blood (like buses) through the roads (blood vessels).
  2. Arteries: The arteries are like highways that carry oxygen and food-rich blood from the heart to all parts of the body.
  3. Capillaries: The capillaries are like small streets where the oxygen and food are delivered to each house (cell).
  4. Veins: The veins are like return roads that carry waste and carbon dioxide-rich blood back to the heart.
  5. Lungs: The lungs are like a special service station where the buses (blood) fill up with oxygen and get rid of waste (carbon dioxide).
  6. Repeat: The circulatory system keeps repeating this process, delivering oxygen and food to all your cells and removing waste.
