979 - How do cells communicate with each other?

Cells talk to each other in three main ways:

  1. Messengers (Hormones): Special cells make tiny messages called hormones that travel through your bloodstream to reach other cells.
  2. Direct Touch (Gap Junctions): Cells can join hands with each other through tiny tunnels, sharing messages and molecules.
  3. Signaling Molecules (Chemical Signals): Cells release special molecules into the air or into the fluid around them. These molecules bind to receptors on other cells, telling them what to do.

Think of it like sending letters, making phone calls, or talking to a friend next to you!
