944 - Why do we sweat, and how does it help regulate body temperature?

We sweat when our body gets too hot. Sweat is like a special liquid that comes out of tiny holes in our skin. When it comes out, it absorbs heat from our body and then turns into vapor. That's called evaporation.

Imagine you're outside on a really hot day. As we walk, our body starts to heat up. Our brain tells our skin to release sweat. When sweat comes out, it sits on our skin for a little while and absorbs heat. As it turns into vapor, it carries that heat away from our body, cooling us down.

So, sweating helps regulate body temperature by taking heat from our body and letting it evaporate into the air, which keeps us cool and comfortable, especially on hot days.
