943 - How do our bodies heal after a cut or injury?
Our bodies have an amazing healing system that works like this:
- Stop the bleeding: When you get a cut or injury, the blood starts to clot to stop the bleeding. This clot is like a special protective bandage that covers the wound.
- Clean the wound: Our body sends special white blood cells to the wound to fight off any bad bacteria that might be there. This helps keep the wound clean and prevents infection.
- Fix the damage: Our body then starts to fix the damage by rebuilding the skin and tissue around the wound. It's like patching up a tear in a favorite shirt.
- Grow new skin: New skin cells start to grow and cover the wound, making it stronger and healthier.
- Make it stronger: Our body also sends special growth factors to the wound to help make the new skin strong and healthy.
This whole process happens because of a group of superheroes called cells, proteins, and blood vessels that work together to make us feel better.
