932 - How does the human heart work, and why is it so important?

The human heart is like a powerful pump that helps keep us alive. Here's how it works:

  1. The heart has four chambers: The upper two are called atria, and the lower two are called ventricles.
  2. When the heart beats, it squeezes and relaxes in a special rhythm.
  3. The heart takes in deoxygenated blood from the body through the atria.
  4. The blood then moves to the ventricles, which pump it to the lungs to pick up oxygen.
  5. After that, the oxygen-rich blood is pumped from the lungs back to the heart.
  6. Finally, the heart sends the oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body through a network of blood vessels.

The heart is so important because it:

Without a healthy heart, our body wouldn't be able to function properly.
