927 - What causes droughts, and how do they affect the environment?
A drought is when there's not enough rain for a long time, causing water shortages.
Causes of droughts: 1. Low rainfall: Sometimes, weather patterns change and there's not enough rain. 2. Changes in ocean temperatures: This can affect global weather patterns. 3. Human activities: Using too much water, cutting down trees, and pollution can contribute to droughts.
Effects of droughts on the environment: 1. Plants and trees die: Without water, plants can't grow or survive. 2. Animals struggle to find food and water: Many animals rely on plants and water sources for survival. 3. Soil erosion: Without plants to hold it in place, soil can be washed or blown away. 4. Decreased water quality: As water levels drop, the remaining water can become polluted. 5. Increased risk of wildfires: Dry plants and trees can easily catch fire.
Droughts can be very serious and affect many living things.
