920 - What is wind chill, and how does it make us feel colder?

Wind chill is when cold air and strong winds combine to make you feel even colder than it actually is outside. It's like when you're standing in front of a fan on a hot day and the fan makes you feel cooler.

In cold weather, the wind blows away the warm air closest to your skin, making the cold air feel even colder on your skin. This makes you feel chillier and warmer clothes or a thicker jacket might be needed to stay warm.
