675 - How does water pollution affect ecosystems?
Water pollution is when dirty or bad things get into our water, making it dirty. This can hurt the living things in and around the water, like fish, plants, and animals.
Imagine you're in a big swimming pool with lots of fun water games and animals, like fish. Now, imagine someone pours dirty, yucky water into the pool. The yucky water makes it hard for the animals and plants to live, breathe, and eat.
In the same way, when water gets polluted with things like:
- Bad things from factories -Trash and plastic
- Yucky stuff from farms
It can hurt the animals and plants that live in and around the water.
Some of the problems that can happen are:
- Fish and animals get sick or die
- Plants die or don't grow well
- We can't drink the water or swim in it
- It affects the whole food chain, like if a fish eats a plant, and then a bigger animal eats the fish
So, we need to take care of our water to keep our ecosystems healthy and happy.
