667 - What are the different states of water, and how do they change?

There are three main states of water: solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas (water vapor). Here's how they change:

  1. Solid to Liquid (Melting): When ice gets warm, it turns into liquid water. This happens when the temperature rises above 0°C (32°F).
  2. Liquid to Gas (Evaporation): When liquid water gets hotter, it turns into water vapor. This happens when the temperature rises and the water molecules gain energy to break free from the liquid.
  3. Gas to Liquid (Condensation): When water vapor cools down, it turns back into liquid water. This happens when you breathe onto a cold window or when clouds form.
  4. Liquid to Solid (Freezing): When liquid water gets cold, it turns back into ice. This happens when the temperature drops below 0°C (32°F).

These changes happen naturally in the Earth's water cycle, where water keeps moving from one state to another.
