662 - How does oil production contribute to climate change?
Imagine the Earth has a blanket around it to keep it warm. This blanket is made of gases like carbon dioxide (CO2). When we burn oil for cars, heating, and electricity, it makes more CO2, adding to the blanket. This makes the Earth get too hot, causing problems like super storms, and rising sea levels.
Here's how it happens:
- Oil is removed from the ground (oil production).
- We refine it into products like gasoline.
- We burn these products, releasing CO2.
- CO2 adds to the Earth's blanket, trapping heat.
So, the more oil we produce and use, the thicker the blanket gets, and the more our planet heats up. We need to find cleaner ways to produce energy to keep the Earth cool.
