65 - How do plants reproduce?
Plant reproduction can happen in two main ways:
Seeds: Some plants produce flowers. Inside the flowers, male and female parts join to make seeds. When seeds are ripe, they fall off and grow into new plants in a process called germination.
No seeds (vegetative reproduction): Other plants can reproduce without making seeds. This can happen through:
- Runners: Plants like strawberries make long stems that touch the ground and grow into new plants.
- Cuts and roots: We can cut parts of plants (like stems or roots) and plant them in soil to grow new plants.
- Tubers: Some plants like potatoes grow underground parts that can grow into new plants.
Plants can reproduce in many ways to make more plants.
