The ozone layer is like a protective shield in the Earth's atmosphere. It's made up of a type of gas called ozone that helps keep us safe from the sun's strong ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Imagine you're wearing sunscreen to protect your skin from getting burned. The ozone layer is like a big, invisible sunscreen for the entire Earth. It helps block the UV rays so we don't get hurt.
