622 - How do electrical appliances use electricity?
When you plug an appliance into a power outlet, here's what happens:
- Electricity flows from the power outlet, through the cord, and into the appliance.
- Inside the appliance, there are tiny parts like wires, circuits, and devices (like motors or heating coils).
- These parts use the electricity to do their job – for example, a motor spins to make a fan turn, or a heating coil gets hot to warm water.
- The electricity makes the appliance work, and it performs its intended function (like making toast, or blowing air).
Think of it like water flowing through a hose. Just like water makes the hose do its job (like watering plants), electricity makes the appliance do its job.
