618 - How do we generate electricity?

There are several ways to generate electricity. Here are a few main ways:

  1. Coal or Gas: We burn coal or natural gas to heat water, creating steam. The steam turns a big wheel, which makes electricity.
  2. Hydroelectric: We use the energy of moving water from a dam or river. The water turns a big wheel, which makes electricity.
  3. Wind: We use big windmills to turn a wheel, which makes electricity from the wind's energy.
  4. Solar: We use special panels called solar panels to catch the sun's energy and turn it into electricity.
  5. Nuclear: We use special fuel to heat water, creating steam, which then turns a wheel to make electricity.

These are the main ways we generate electricity. The electricity is then sent to our homes through power lines.
