60 - How does the body heal itself?
Imagine your body has its own repair team. Here's how it works:
- Warning sign: When you get hurt, like cutting your skin, your body sends warning signals to alert the repair team.
- Inflammation: The repair team sends in special workers (white blood cells) to fix the issue. These workers can make the area look red and swollen, but it's a sign they're working hard.
- Cleaning up: The white blood cells clean up any germs or bad stuff that might have entered the wound.
- Fixing the damage: Special cells called platelets help plug up the wound, and other cells (fibroblasts) rebuild damaged tissue.
- Healing complete: As the repair team finishes its job, the wound starts to close, and new skin grows over the damaged area.
Your body is amazing, and it's always ready to heal itself.
