57 - How do we know the Earth is round?

There are several ways we know the Earth is round.

  1. Ships disappearing at sea: When a ship sails away from the shore, it doesn't just get smaller, but it also seems to sink into the water because the Earth is curved.

  2. Satellite images: We have taken pictures of the Earth from space and they clearly show that the Earth is round.

  3. Shadows on the moon during a lunar eclipse: During a lunar eclipse, the Earth's shadow on the moon is round, showing that the Earth is also round.

  4. People traveling around the world: Many people have traveled around the Earth and returned without falling off the edge.
