567 - What is the solar system, and what are its main components?

The solar system is a big collection of objects that orbit (or go around) a star called the Sun. The main components are:

  1. The Sun: The big, bright star at the center of our solar system.
  2. The 8 Planets:
  3. Mercury (close to the Sun)
  4. Mars
  5. Venus
  6. Earth (where we live)
  7. Neptune
  8. Uranus
  9. Saturn
  10. Jupiter (the biggest planet)
  11. Dwarf Planets: Smaller planets like Pluto and Eris.
  12. Moons: Smaller objects that orbit the planets, like the Moon we see from Earth.
  13. Asteroids: Small, rocky objects that float around in space.
  14. Comets: Icy objects that sometimes come close to the Sun and get bright tails.

That's our amazing solar system!
