549 - How do germs spread, and how can we prevent illness?

Germs spread in three main ways:

  1. Touching: When someone with germs on their hands touches you or something else, the germs can transfer to you.
  2. Air: When someone coughs or sneezes, germs go into the air and can be breathed in by others.
  3. Contaminated food and water: If food and water are contaminated with germs, people can get sick if they eat or drink them.

To prevent illness:

  1. Wash your hands often with soap and water.
  2. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
  3. Keep surfaces clean by wiping them down with disinfectant.
  4. Eat healthy food and drink clean water.
  5. Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
