Science Common Sense

524 - What is the role of experimentation in understanding science?

Experimentation is a way scientists figure out how things work and test their ideas. It's like trying out a recipe - if you change one ingredient, what happens?

When scientists do an experiment, they:

  1. Think of a question or a problem to solve.
  2. Come up with a plan to test their idea (called a hypothesis).
  3. Try the experiment to see what happens.
  4. Look at the results to see if their idea was correct.
  5. Change the experiment to see if they can get a different result.

This process helps scientists learn, understand, and sometimes discover new things. It's how we know about gravity, how plants grow, and many other cool science facts.
