Science Common Sense
493 - What is zoo science, and what do zookeepers do?
Zoo science is the study and practice of taking care of animals in zoos, so they can be healthy and happy.
Zookeepers are the people who work at the zoo to care for the animals. Their main job is to:
- Feed them with the right food.
- Give them clean water and homes.
- Make sure they have enough space to exercise.
- Keep an eye on them to see if they're sick or hurt.
- Help visitors learn about the animals.
Zookeepers also work with veterinarians (animal doctors) to keep the animals healthy and strong. They also help with animal conservation, which means they work to save animals that are in danger of disappearing.
