488 - How do we test the pH of a solution?

To test the pH of a solution, you can use these easy methods:

  1. pH Paper: Dip a special paper strip into the solution. The paper will change color depending on the pH. Compare the color to a chart to find the pH.
  2. pH Meter: Use a digital pH meter. It's like a thermometer for acidity. Dip the meter into the solution, and it will show the pH on a screen.
  3. Litmus Test: Mix a few drops of litmus solution (blue or red) into the solution. If it's acidic (low pH), the color will change to red. If it's basic (high pH), it will remain blue.

These methods help you find out if a solution is acidic, basic, or neutral (pH 7).
