462 - What are the basic principles of first aid?

There are three basic principles of first aid:

  1. Preserve Life: Help the person breathe, and stop them from bleeding. Make sure they are safe.
  2. Prevent Further Harm: Keep them away from things that can hurt them, and don't move them if they're hurt badly.
  3. Promote Recovery: Keep them comfortable and try to make them feel better until help arrives.

Remember the DR ABC, which stands for: - D: Danger (check for danger) - R: Response (ask if they are okay) - A: Airway (check if they can breathe) - B: Breathing (check if they are breathing) - C: Circulation (check if their heart is beating)

Always call for help, like 911, if you're not sure what to do.
