415 - What are the dangers of oil spills to marine life?

Oil spills are very bad for marine life. Here's why:

  1. Choking: Oil can cover animals' bodies, making it hard for them to breathe and swallow food.
  2. Poisoning: When animals eat or lick oil, it can harm their insides and even kill them.
  3. Habitat damage: Oil can destroy homes of animals like coral reefs, seaweed, and mangroves, making it hard for them to survive.
  4. Long-term effects: Oil can stick around in the water for years, affecting animals for a long time and even harming future generations.

Some animals might even get so covered in oil that they can't move or find food, which is really sad.
