406 - How does plastic pollution impact marine animals?

Plastic pollution in the ocean can harm marine animals in many ways. Here are a few:

  1. Entanglement: Animals get stuck in plastic bags, nets, or six-pack rings and can't swim or move properly.
  2. Swallowing plastic: Some animals think plastic is food and eat it, which can hurt their stomachs or block their digestive system.
  3. Ingesting tiny plastics: Small animals eat tiny plastic pieces called microplastics, which can be poisonous and make them sick.
  4. Lack of food and home: Plastic pollution can damage coral reefs and other habitats, making it hard for animals to find food and shelter.

This is why it's so important for us to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic to save our marine friends!
