40 - What is the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy?
There are two types of energy: renewable and non-renewable.
- Renewable energy is energy that comes from natural sources that can be replenished naturally, like:
- Sunlight (solar energy)
- Wind
- Water (hydro energy)
- Geothermal (heat from the Earth)
These sources will never run out and are good for the environment.
- Non-renewable energy is energy from sources that will eventually run out and can harm the environment, like:
- Fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas)
- Nuclear energy
These sources are not sustainable and can cause pollution.
