334 - What are the different parts of a plant, and what do they do?
There are several main parts of a plant:
Roots: These are under the ground and help the plant drink water and nutrients from the soil. They also hold the plant in place.
Stem: This part connects the roots to the leaves. It carries water, nutrients, and food from the roots to the leaves and also holds the plant up.
Leaves: Leaves make food for the plant using sunlight, water, and air in a process called photosynthesis. They are like food factories for the plant.
Flowers: These are the colorful parts that make seeds for the plant. They help the plant reproduce (make more plants).
Seeds: Seeds grow into new plants when they have enough water and sunlight.
Fruits or Vegetables: These are the yummy parts that grow from flowers and contain seeds.
