283 - How does migration change a region's demographics?
Imagine a big pie chart that shows the population of a region. Migration is like someone moving their piece of the pie from one place to another.
When people move into a region (immigration), their piece of the pie gets added to the region's chart. This can change the colors of the pie chart, making it look different.
If a lot of people move into a region:
- The region's population grows.
- The age, ethnic, and language groups in the region might change.
- There might be more people with different cultures, foods, and traditions.
On the other hand, when people move out of a region (emigration), their piece of the pie is removed from the chart.
If a lot of people move out of a region:
- The region's population shrinks.
- Some age, ethnic, or language groups might become smaller.
So, migration is like a big puzzle, and the pieces are moving around. It's changing the way a region looks, and it's making the population more diverse or different.
