235 - What is resonance, and where can we find it?

Resonance is when something vibrates strongly at a specific frequency, and it's really cool. Imagine you're on a swing, and you pump your legs at just the right time to make the swing go super high. That's kinda like resonance.

We can find resonance in lots of things, like:

  1. Music: A guitar string vibrates at a certain frequency, making a specific note.
  2. Bridges: Some famous bridges, like the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, actually collapsed because wind made them vibrate too much at a certain frequency (too much resonance).
  3. Your voice: When you sing, your voice vibrates in your mouth, nose, and chest, creating the sound you hear.
  4. A wine glass: Tap a wine glass, and it makes a pretty sound because the glass is resonating at a certain frequency.
  5. Even our own bodies: Sometimes our hearts beat in sync with music or with other people's heartbeats (that's called cardiac resonance).

So, resonance is all around us, making things vibrate, and making life more interesting!
