199 - Why do we need chemicals for agriculture?

We need chemicals in agriculture to help crops grow healthy and strong. These chemicals, like fertilizers and pesticides, do a few important things:

  1. Help plants grow: Fertilizers give plants the nutrients they need to grow big and healthy.
  2. Kill pests and diseases: Pesticides keep bugs and diseases from eating or hurting the crops.
  3. Keep weeds away: Herbicides stop weeds from growing and taking water and nutrients from the crops.

All of these things help farmers grow more food and make sure we have enough to eat.
