Science Common Sense
1798 - What is the composition of the starry sky we see on Earth.
The starry sky you see on Earth is made up of many things.
- Stars: These are huge balls of hot, glowing gas, and they come in different colors and sizes. Most stars look like tiny dots in the sky.
- Planets: You can also see some planets like Venus, Mars, and Jupiter in the night sky. They don't twinkle like stars, but they can be bright and look like moving dots.
- Galaxies: A galaxy is a group of many stars, planets, and gas held together by gravity. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way, and you can see it as a bright, hazy band in the night sky.
- Meteoroids: Sometimes you might see a "shooting star" or a meteor. This is a small rock that enters our atmosphere and burns up, creating a bright streak in the sky.
- Gas and Dust: The universe is filled with gas and dust that you can't see directly. But sometimes, this gas and dust can reflect the light of stars, making them look like clouds or nebulae in the sky.
That's what makes up the amazing view of the starry sky on Earth!
