1777 - How do chemical engineering technologies relate to societal, legal, and ethical issues?

Imagine you're working on a project to make cleaner water in a village. As a chemical engineer, your job is to design the best technology to do this. But, you also have to think about:

  1. Societal issues: How will this project affect the people living in the village? Will it change their daily lives? Do they have the resources to maintain the technology?
  2. Legal issues: Are there laws that we need to follow to build this project? Do we have the right permissions?
  3. Ethical issues: Is this project fair and just? Will it harm the environment or help it? Are we doing this project for the right reasons?

As a chemical engineer, you have to think about these questions and make sure your technology is not only good for the environment but also for the people and the community.
