1706 - What is de Broglie's matter wave theory?

De Broglie's matter wave theory is a scientific idea that says everything, even tiny particles like atoms and electrons, can behave like both particles and waves.

Imagine you're at the beach and you throw a stone into the water. You'll see waves moving out from where the stone landed. But if you look really closely at the water, you'll see that the waves are made up of tiny particles called water molecules.

De Broglie said that the same thing happens with tiny particles like electrons. They can behave like waves, too, even though we can't see them. This idea was a big discovery and helped us understand a lot more about how the world works at a really small scale.
