1673 - What happens when linear waves meet and overlap?

When linear waves meet and overlap, they create a new wave pattern. This is called interference. There are two types of interference:

  1. Constructive interference: This is when the peaks of two waves meet and make an even bigger peak.
  2. Destructive interference: This is when the peak of one wave meets the trough of another wave. The peak and trough cancel each other, making a smaller or even no wave.
