1546 - What can the color of a star be used to understand about the star?
The color of a star can tell us two things:
Temperature: A blue star is very hot, while a red star is cooler. The temperature is like how hot or cold water is. It can be hot, warm, or cold.
Life stage: The color also helps us know how old a star is. For example, when a star is young, it is hot and looks blue. As it gets older and cools down, it turns to yellow, orange, and finally red before it dies.
By looking at the color, we can find out a lot about a star without having to be close to it.
