1483 - What is the concept of energy levels?

Imagine you're at a stadium watching a concert. The stadium has many levels or rows of seats. Each level is like a special place where people can sit and enjoy the concert.

In science, atoms are like tiny stadiums, and they also have levels or rows where tiny particles called electrons sit. These levels are called energy levels. Just like how people sit on different levels in the stadium, electrons sit on different energy levels in an atom.

Electrons on higher energy levels have more energy and are farther away from the center of the atom. Electrons on lower energy levels have less energy and are closer to the center. When an electron moves from one energy level to another, it gains or loses energy.
