1398 - What are the methods to respond to climate change
There are three main methods to respond to climate change:
- Mitigation: This means reducing the amount of greenhouse gases we produce to slow down global warming. Examples include:
- Using renewable energy like solar and wind power
- Increasing energy efficiency
- Planting trees and preserving forests
Reducing waste and pollution
Adaptation: This means preparing for the changes that climate change is bringing and making our homes and communities safer. Examples include:
- Building sea walls to protect against rising sea levels
- Creating green spaces to reduce the risk of flooding
- Developing new crop varieties that can withstand extreme weather
Implementing early warning systems for natural disasters
Resilience: This means making our communities stronger and more able to bounce back from climate-related disasters. Examples include:
- Creating emergency funds to help people recover from disasters
- Building stronger and safer homes
- Supporting communities that are already vulnerable to climate change
- Educating people about climate change and its risks.
