1330 - What generates heat to cause a change in temperature when an acid and a base undergo a neutralization reaction to form salt and water during an experiment?
When an acid and a base mix together, they form a new compound called salt and water. This reaction is called neutralization. During this process, the acid and base particles start moving really fast and collide with each other.
As they do this, they release some extra energy. This extra energy gets changed into heat, making the mixture warmer. This is because the particles are now moving slower and closer together, releasing some of the energy they had. That's why you might feel the mixture get warmer or even see it bubble when you mix an acid and a base.
