1238 - What is the role of the respiratory system in exchanging gases with the environment in the human body?
The respiratory system is like a delivery truck that brings oxygen into the body and takes away the bad stuff, called carbon dioxide.
Here's how it works:
- We breathe in (inhale) oxygen from the air into our lungs.
- The oxygen is then sent to the rest of our body through the bloodstream.
- At the same time, the bloodstream brings back the bad carbon dioxide to the lungs.
- We breathe out (exhale) the carbon dioxide, removing it from our body.
This helps keep our body healthy and working properly.
