1235 - What happens to the chromosomes during cell division?

During cell division, the chromosomes do the following:

  1. They copy themselves (make an extra set).
  2. The copied chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.
  3. The cell splits and each new cell gets a complete set of chromosomes.

It's like copying a set of papers, lining them up, and then putting one set in each of two boxes (new cells).
