1219 - How does heat change the shape of a substance?

When you heat a substance, the tiny particles (like tiny balls) inside it start moving faster. This makes them spread out and move away from each other. As a result, the substance expands and changes shape.

Imagine you have a bunch of people in a small room. At first, they're packed tightly together, but when the music starts playing, they start dancing and moving around. They take up more space, right? It's kind of like that with the particles in a substance when it gets heated.
