1204 - What is the relationship between the particle model of matter and the three states of matter?
The particle model of matter is a way to explain how particles (like tiny atoms or molecules) behave in different states of matter.
Imagine you have a big box of balls, and these balls are like particles. The three states of matter are like different ways the balls are arranged and moving in the box:
- Solid: The balls (particles) are tightly packed and stuck together, not moving much.
- Liquid: The balls are packed together but have room to roll and move around each other.
- Gas: The balls are spread out and can move really fast in any direction.
The particle model of matter helps us understand how particles behave and how that makes the different states of matter.
