1144 - Why do living organisms have diverse species and living environments?

Imagine a big, old forest. If all trees looked the same and grew in the same way, they would compete for the same resources like sunlight, water, and food. This would make it hard for the forest to be healthy and strong.

Nature created different species and environments to solve this problem. Diversity helps:

  1. Different trees (or living things) grow in different conditions. Some like shade, some like sunlight, and some like wet or dry soil.
  2. Species adapt to their environment. This means they change to fit in better and survive.
  3. New environments form when old ones change. Mountains grow, seas form, and forests spread. This creates new homes for living things.
  4. Evolution happens when living things change over time to fit their environment.

This diversity helps keep the environment healthy, strong, and full of life. Just like how a forest with many types of trees is more beautiful and resilient than one with only one type.
