1081 - What are the properties of matter that change with temperature?

As temperature changes, the following properties of matter can change:

  1. Volume: Most things expand (get bigger) when heated and shrink when cooled.
  2. Shape: Some things change shape when heated or cooled, like metals that melt or bend.
  3. State: Matter can change from solid to liquid (melting) or from liquid to gas (evaporation) when heated, and from gas to liquid (condensation) or from liquid to solid (freezing) when cooled.
  4. Color: Some materials can change color when heated or cooled.
  5. Rigidity: Some materials become softer or more flexible when heated and harder when cooled.
  6. Viscosity (thickness): Liquids can become thinner (less viscous) when heated and thicker when cooled.

These are some of the main properties of matter that change with temperature.
