1061 - What is the ozone layer?

The ozone layer is a special layer in the Earth's atmosphere that protects us from the sun's bad rays. It's like a shield that keeps us safe.

Imagine you're wearing sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. The ozone layer does the same thing for the whole Earth. It blocks some of the sun's rays, called ultraviolet (UV) rays, so they don't hurt people, animals, or plants.

The ozone layer is made up of a type of gas called ozone, and it's located high up in the atmosphere, about 15-30 kilometers above the Earth's surface. It's an important part of our planet's protection, and we need to take care of it to keep ourselves and the Earth safe.
