Science Common Sense
1011 - What is nanotechnology?
Nanotechnology is a type of science and engineering that deals with really small things, like tiny particles that are too small to see with our eyes. These particles are called "nano" because they're about 1-100 nanometers in size. That's about 1,000 to 100,000 times smaller than a dot on a piece of paper.
Imagine being able to look at a grain of sand through a super powerful microscope. That's roughly the size we're talking about. Scientists can create and work with these tiny particles to make new materials, like super-strong metals, special medicines, or even tiny computers.
It's kind of like building with LEGO blocks, but instead of regular-sized blocks, we're talking about tiny, tiny blocks that can't even be seen with our eyes. It's really cool and has the potential to create lots of new and amazing things!
