1009 - What is genetics?

Genetics is the study of how living things pass traits from their parents to their children. These traits can include things like eye color, hair color, height, and even some health conditions.

Think of it like this: inside every living thing, there are special tiny things called cells, and inside those cells, there's something called DNA (short for Deoxyribonucleic acid). DNA is like a blueprint that tells our body how to grow and what we should look like.

When parents have a child, they pass on some of their DNA to the child. That's why you might have your mom's eyes or your dad's hair color. Genetics is all about understanding how that works and how it affects who we are and how we look.
