Science Common Sense

1 - Why is winter cold and summer hot?

Imagine the Earth is like a big ball, and it rotates around the sun. Throughout the year, different parts of the Earth tilt towards or away from the sun.

When your part of the Earth tilts towards the sun (like in summer), you get more sunlight, and it makes you warm and hot. Think of it like using a flashlight - the closer you hold it, the brighter and warmer it becomes.

When your part of the Earth tilts away from the sun (like in winter), you get less sunlight, and it makes you cold. It's like moving the flashlight further away - the light becomes weaker and cooler.

That's why you feel hot in summer and cold in winter.
